The Face of Cardiff was an ambitious project created to celebrate the completion of a £2.2million refurbishment of this prestigious shopping centre.

In order to show off the scheme's refurbishment we invited shoppers to help us create a giant public work of art.

We started by posing a question - "Which Welsh person best represented modern Cardiff?" Over 5,000 people voted online as competition between musicians, sportsmen and actors intensified.

The results of the poll were a closely guarded secret. The intention, to create a 16x12ft photomosaic of the 'Face of Cardiff'. We began to invite shoppers to have their photos taken in front of different coloured backgrounds. 15,000 photos were taken over 5 days and specialist software was used to create the photomosaic depicting the secret ‘Face of Cardiff’.

Queens Arcade was packed with press photographers, TV crews and public as we announced the 'Face of Cardiff' - X Factor contestant Rhydian Roberts; who was on hand to unveil the artwork.
