It's RRRRHYDIAN!!
Queens Arcade unveils the people's choice for the 'Face of Cardiff'
Who: Rhydian Roberts
What: Unveiling of photo-mosiac portrait consisting of 15,000 different images of the public
Where: Queens Arcade, Cardiff
When: Monday 24th November 2008, 3pm
Why: To celebrate the £2.5m rejuvenation of Queens Arcade in an exciting new piece of public art, using the public to choose who they wanted to be the 'Face of Cardiff' and as inspiration and participants in the art itself
How: A team of 15 photographers, assistants and promotional staff held a 5 day workshop in the Centre encouraging members of the public to have their pictures taken for inclusion in the unique 'I am Art' Face of Cardiff photo-mosaic portrait
Then the artist and his team, having sorted through the thousands of photos taken to ensure there were no duplicates or fuzzy ones and using an exclusive portrait of Rhydian, adjusted the colours and textures to suit the style of portrait required for the display
The next step used special software which searched for and balanced the pictures as it fitted them into place in the mosaic which took five days.
