Brad Voth storms into second place behind Rhydian Roberts in competition to be the Face of Cardiff?

More sports and singing stars added to the list of nominees.

Latest voting figures have been released and reveal that Rhydian Roberts is still the most nominated Welsh figure with just over 31% of the vote.

However, fans of Brad Voth, Captain of the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team have been mustering support for their player, who has come from nowhere in the first few days of voting, to enjoying nearly 15% of the vote despite being Canadian! Meanwhile Torchwood actor, Gareth David Lloyd is still holding strong on 12%.

The first five days of voting revealed a wide range of Welsh national treasures, celebrities and influential figures in many of the spheres close to the heart of Welsh identity: sport, politics and the arts and indeed those have been reflected in the latest voting by the addition of Geraint Thomas and Shan Cothi to the list of nominees..

Other popular figures include singers Cerys Matthews and Charlotte Church who are neck and neck on 3.5%, closely followed by that other chanteuse Katherine Jenkins on 2.6%.

Perennial favourite and candidate for Great Briton, Nye Bevan has also been nominated, continuing the tradition of Welsh pride in the Father of the NHS.

No list of Welsh figures revered in Wales would be complete without sportsmen and in the battle of the footballers and rugby players, it is former Cardiff City player James Collins (2.6%) who leads the way over all the rugby players nominated including such icons of the sport as Gareth Edwards and Shane Williams.
