When Oak Rogers heard about the Daring Dad competition from the Harvey Centre and Paradise Wildlife Park, he knew he had to get Mum to enter his Dad.

Father Time

As Oak's Mum Rowen said in her entry, "He is the bravest man I know! Eric is a special needs instructor, loves animals, new experiences and lives life to the full. Nothing scares (my) Dad!!"

Eric's previous feats of daring certainly intrigued and amused the judges. Last year he entered the World Beard & Moustache Championships and came joint 4th in his category - Partial Beard/Natural Goatee. After tending his beard for two years he had to parade on stage in front of thousands of spectators, competing against "beard enthusiasts" from around the world!

Eric is renowned for his daring nature and sense of humour. He has posed for a Women's Institute-style calendar for friends; he has recently competed in the World Nettle Eating Championships in Dorset and this year, is doing a tandem skydive to mark his 40th birthday!

Also highly commended were the following brave and daring Dads:

Adrian Moss, who drives all over the country and puts up with their Mum, nominated by his children Eliza and Peter;

Ben Trudgen, the somersaulting hornet-bashing builder, nominated by his two-year old son and
Robin Warren who is a very brave voluntary canoe lifeguard, nominated by Abigail, James, Polly and Ricky.

We would like to salute them all, for their humour, hard-work, love, dedication and bravery - their kids are all very proud of them and the Harvey Centre also says thank you for being such great Dads.

Eric has not yet had his chance to prove his daring - but he will be at Paradise Wildlife Park on August 21st to feed the lions.
