Organising the Christmas Party was once again allocated to me to (without my prior agreement or knowledge I might add). I first became suspicious when my 'colleagues' kept leaving me ideas and suggestions of where they might like to go and the dates they were free.

After much deliberation we finally decided on The Cuckoo Restaurant , in the village of Cuckfield not far from us, on recommendation from a friend.

Friday 18th December  - you may remember this date as most of the nation woke that morning to find everywhere covered in fairly deep (well deep for us soft southern sissy's) snow.

OMG! Having phoned the restaurant they were still opening as planned, so as long as we could get there the party was on! For us 'girls' attending all thoughts of stiletto heels and strappy black dresses went out the window, to be replaced by polo neck jumpers and Ugg boots (well almost). Taxi's were booked for all and we all made it on time to the restaurant.

The restaurant is a gorgeous 17th Century cottage, beautifully decorated and all looking very Christmasy. We were seated in a private area at the back away from the other diners (much to the relief of those other diners as the evening wore on). The food was fantastic (all sourced locally) and the choice of wines was amazing. We started off with a few bottles of Champagne and then it all becomes a bit hazy...........

Sometime later on I do remember us all trying to negotiate the snow and ice again on the pavements in Haywards Heath as we headed to Orange Square our local wine bar. Here we stayed and drank until the staff started piling up the furniture around us and politely telling us they were closing.
